HOW TO...
Invisible Hem
This is one of our favourite stitches!
Here's how
It works well for hems in medium to lightweight fabrics. You shouldn't pull on this stitch as it will pucker the fabric. With the fabric held as shown. The key to this method is to create miniscule stitches to create the impression of an invisible hem.
1 Fold your material over 1 inch and iron your hem fold to stop it moving while you sew.
2 Fold over 1 inch again.
3 Iron a second time.
4 Pull the thread so that the knot sits inside the fold of the hem.
5 Catch the main of the fabric with a 1mm thin stitch and bring the needle back to the fold of the hem.
6 Push the needle between the fold of the hem, along and back out again.
7 Repeat.
8 Finished stitch.
