Fudhoods!
Louise Halswell and Laura Boyle tell us how they turned their passion for colour and recycling into popular clothing label Sew That Jazz
We never knew quite what would happen when we got our studio, but working so closely together we realised that our styles were pretty much the same, so we combined forces to create Sew That Jazz. We focused our style ethos around the brightest colours, boldest prints and sparkliest materials to create visually explosive combinations!
We entered a business enterprise competition at university and won second prize in the creative design category. Our idea was a clothing brand that uses predominantly second-hand items to make outrageous, one-off designs. We want to change people’s perception of fashion and the throw away culture by making unique clothes that people want to treasure.
After winning the money we really put our plan into action, bought a van, and paid for festival pitches. We have been super-busy ever since, touring the country with our festival stall, the Boo-Dior, where you can get a complete festival makeover. We have set up two online shops for Sew That Jazz and Fudhoods. Currently, just a year after coming up with our business idea we are getting our best-selling product, Fudhoods, put into production and are now approaching retailers.
