Christmas Creativity Competition

After the success of last year’s competition, we have teamed up with The Sewing Directory to run a Christmas Creativity Competition once again. Last year’s winner was Lucy Barr-Hamilton with her innovative upcycled jeans advent calendar – find it on the Sewing Directory website www.sewingdirectory.co.uk, where you can view more of last year’s entries. We can’t wait to see what you come up with this year!

What you do now!

Submit a unique project or pattern for making something related to Christmas, whether it’s a Christmas decoration, stocking, advent calendar or something that could be given as a Christmas present.Each project must consist of clear instructions, diagrams where necessary, patterns if needed and photos. This must be something you’ve come up with yourself and have not seen in a book/magazine or online (you have to sign the entry form to confirm this). The entries must all be sent by email to info@clothmagazine.co.uk with the message title ‘Creativity competition’.

The prize winning projects, and some others will be featured in The Sewing Directory (and on the prize giver’s websites) and the winning tutorial will be published in Cloth!

How to enter:

Download the word entry form from www.clothmagazine.co.uk/competition, complete and submit it with your tutorial. Please send the tutorial as a Word document or a document that can be opened and edited in Word. You can send other formats, but we need a format we can edit in case of any spelling mistakes etc. Please attach at least two images (including one of the finished product) to your email (ideally in JPEG format). If we need the other images we will request them from you. Only send what you can attach to one email for now (up to 10MB). Please send all entries to info@clothmagazine.co.uk

Receipt will be confirmed within 48 hours (check your junk folder just in case), if you don’t receive an email confirming receipt within 72 hours please re-send or contact us to check we have received it. If your signed entry form is not received by the closing date your entry will be disqualified.

Please make sure you read all the terms & conditions below carefully before sending your entry. Failure to comply could result in disqualification.

Terms and conditions: The winning entries will be published on the site along with some of our other favourites. We will link to your blog/shop/site with the article if you have put those details on your entry form. You must sign the entry form to say you consent to us, and any of the prize givers (Janome, Cloth magazine, David & Charles and Abakhan), using your tutorial online or in print. We reserve the right to alter the text or layout of the tutorial. You must also sign the form to confirm that the tutorial is original, and not taken from any other source, and that you will be liable for any breaches of copyright.

All entries to be received by midnight Thursday 20th October 2011, the winners will be announced by Tuesday 1st November 2011. The decision of the judges is final. You may submit more than one entry but prizes are limited to one per person. You cannot re-enter any prize winning tutorials from last year’s competition, however if you did not win a prize with your entry last year you can resubmit it.

Colleagues and family members of any of the judges are not permitted to enter. We welcome entries from outside of the UK however the sewing machine can only be shipped to an address in the UK or Ireland, as can products purchased from the Abakhan website. The Cloth subscription can be sent internationally, as can the books from the RU Craft website (see postage costs on the site).

If a signed entry form is not received by the deadline the entry will be disqualified. If anyone is found to be in breach of copyright they will be disqualified and banned from entering future competitions.
